WWE developmental star Elijah Burke is causing quite a stir in Louisville, KY
WWE developmental star Elijah Burke is causing quite a stir in Louisville, KY. News came mid last week that OVW fan-favorite Elijah Burke has received tentative orders to report to Deep South Wrestling in Atlanta.Literally within hours, it seems as if the entire wrestling fan population in Louisville has exploded in opposition. Other members of OVW have been shuffled down to DSW in the past, and vice versa, but never has there been such a public cry of outrage.
Sources close to the situation have reported that the OVW office has been flooded with emails, letters and phone calls expressing their request to keep Elijah Burke in OVW. Most of these Elijah supporters are threatening to completely stop attending OVW if he does not remain on the roster.
It is obvious that the charismatic Burke has become much more to the fans than merely the former OVW champion. Fans have commented that he has given them guidance, has presented a positive role model for their children, and has been the reason in whole for their regular attendance at the OVW television tapings.
At the last OVW television taping, die-hard Elijah fan Bobbi Sue arrived to the OVW arena with a 36 inch sign that read "Elijah Belongs In OVW". Other fans also brought signs expressing their disapproval of Elijah's proposed move.
LaKeisha of New Albany, IN has also voiced her concerns that "Elijah is the only African American present in OVW that provides a positive experience for the fans". LaKeisha went on to say that "removing such a valuable asset to the black community in Kentuckiana would be a grave mistake".
