WWE Encourages Letter Writing Campaign To Troops As Part Of WWE SmackDown!'s Great American Bash

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)----World Wrestling Entertainment(R), as part of its participation in America Supports You, starts a campaign today encouraging Americans to write letters of support to our troops to acknowledge the sacrifices they are making to protect our freedom. The letter writing campaign is part of the buildup to WWE SmackDown!(R)'s Great American Bash(R) Pay-Per-View, to be broadcast live from the HSBC Arena in Buffalo, N.Y., on Sunday, July 24, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

WWE(R) is offering to send every person who writes a letter to the troops a free Great American Bash poster featuring WWE Diva Torrie Wilson(R). WWE has set up www.wwe.com/play/sweepstakes/gab where fans can go to compose a thank you letter. The letters will be posted on WWE's dedicated military website, troops.wwe.com, for troops around the world to view. While on the site, fans can register for a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to The Great American Bash.

WWE also has established a link on the site to America Supports You so people can learn how they can become more involved in supporting the military personnel in their communities.

"America's fighting men and women do so much for us, we wanted to do something to celebrate what they do, and continue to remind them that Americans back home appreciate the sacrifices they make for us every day," said Gary Davis, WWE's Vice President, Corporate Communications.

WWE has a long history of supporting America's troops. WWE Superstars were some of the first celebrities to visit wounded soldiers as they returned from Iraq and Afghanistan. WWE has sent millions of dollars worth of t-shirts, videos and DVDs, promotional items, magazines and CDs to military personnel operating on the front lines. For the past two years, WWE SmackDown! Superstars have performed a televised holiday special from Iraq that was broadcast to Americans and troops around the globe. A limited edition DVD of the holiday events is now being sold, with some of the proceeds being donated to the USO's Operation Care Package.

WWE received the Legacy of Hope Award from the USO of Metropolitan Washington for its efforts in support of the troops and to raise funds in support of USO Operation Care Package.
