--- announced that MSG tickets go on sale for Royal Rumble this Saturday, 12/29, at 10 A.M. via Ticketmaster.

Show opens: Teddy Long comes out; tells us that it will be a great night; announces key matches.

1. KANE pins BIG DADDY V (with Matt Striker) with a chokeslam, after interference by Striker
backfires. Decent opener. * 1/2

2. JAMIE NOBLE & MARK HENRY defeated CHUCK PALUMBO & JIMMY WANG YANG in a solid tag match,
mostly due to Noble and Yang having their working shoes on. Finish: Wang holds Noble; Palumbo tries to kick Noble, but Noble ducks. Yang falls. Palumbo looks in disbelief, and Noble schooolboys him for the
pin. After match, Palumbo shoves Yang down and is booed. **

3. ELIJAH BURKE pins TOMMY DREAMER with the Elijah Express. *

4. "Beauty" contest -- Kelly Kelly (voted the winner by the crowd), Michele McCool, Layla and Victoria.
Victoria refuses to take any clothes off. After "contest", Victoria and Layla try to attack the other two,
but get repelled.

5. JOHN MORRISON & MIZ defeat JESSE & FESTUS to retain tag belts. Morrison pins Festus with feet
on ropes, after a doubleteam, and Jesse being shoved off top rope. * 1/2

6. CM PUNK pins CHAVA GUERRERO with a GTS to retain title. Pretty good match, some good moves. **

7. MVP, in an "open challenger" for U.S. title, pins the "surprise" challenge of CARLITO with a
crockadile clutch, after Carlito misses the backstabber as MVP grabs the ropes. Very good match.
Carlito was face -- came out to a face pop -- but after match, actede as a heel when leaving. ** 1/2

8. UNDERTAKER pins GREAT KAHLI with a chokeslam, in a surprisingly watchable match. Better than expected. **

9. EDGE defeated BATISTA in a "Last Man Standing" match, with the interference of the Major Brothers,
to retain the title. First rate match; went close to 30 minutes. Edge played coward for the first 5 minutes,
continually jumping out of the ring. Batista had some good power move attacks; Edge tried the steps,
chairs, the michrophone, and a few other objects along the way. Crowd totally into the match.
Major Brothers very good at the end, like 2 rats trying to stop Batista...at first thwarted, then tripping
him up at the 9 count (ref didn't see), so Batista was down as Edge got to his feet.
