WWE Smackdown / ECW Taping Results
Tuesday, December 12th, 2006
Bank North Garden * Boston, MA
Attn:  est. 5,500

Dark Match:

Kevin Thorn def. Scotty Too Hotty

ECW (to air December 16th)

Test def. Rob Van Dam.  RVD was going for a sunset flip
but Test held onto the ropes for the three count.

Matt Striker cut a promo insulting the state of
Massachusetts and Celtics legend Red Auerbach dying.
His guest was Balls Mahoney, and he said he fit in with
the fans in Boston.  Balls started his punching spot,
until Striker kicked him in the balls, saying he now
had "blue balls."

CM Punk def. Hardcore Holly via DQ when Holly wouldn't
stop punching Punk in the corner.  This wasn't the type
of ECW the fans in Boston remember from Wonderland in
Revere.

Tommy Dreamer challenged The Great Khali.  He came out
with Daviri, but Dreamer wound up wrestling Daviri.
Dreamer got the win with a DDT.  After the match, Khali
planted Dreamer with a tree slam on the floor.

Bobby Lashley def. Heyman Security in a handicapped
match.  Lashley went over strong, but the question
remains why Heyman would still have a security team if
he is no longer in WWE.

Smackdown (to air December 15th)

John Cena opened the taping, putting over Boston, his
father Johnny Fabulous of the MWF sitting in the front
row and Kowloon restaurant before poking fun at Michael
Cole by giving him some homosexual teased Christmas
presents.  King Booker and Finlay charged the ring
before Batista came out to even things up.  Teddy Long
came out before things got physical and ordered a match
between Cena and Finlay later.

Paul London & Brian Kendrick & Jimmy Wang Yang def.
Gregory Helms & William Regal & Dave Taylor.  Yang
pinned Helms after Regal and Taylor walked off on him.

Matt Hardy def. Joey Mercury with a twist of fate.

Undertaker & Kane DCO Mr. Kennedy & MVP.  There was a
hearse in the aisle during the match.  In the post
match brawl, MVP laid out Kane and Kennedy was going to
run him over with the hearse when the lights went out.
When they came on, Undertaker was sitting next to him
in the hearse and the heels ran off.

Chavo Guerrero def. Funaki.  Before the match, Guerrero
called Chris Benoit to the ring and ordered him to the
ring to apologize to Vickie for physically assaulting
her.  Benoit refused and watched the match from the
floor.  Guerrero got the pin with a frog splash, Benoit
ran in and put him in the sharpshooter to set up for
their match Sunday.

Vito def. Sylvan with a Backlund-esque roll up, only
Vito slipped on his dress and fell into the referee.

Miz came out with Kristal and ate a pigs tounge, monkey
brains and worms to prove that he's ready for the
Boogeyman Sunday at Armageddon.  Boogeyman's head came
through the plate of worms and Miz got out of dodge.

John Cena def. Finlay.  Finaly undid the corner
turnbuckle pad.  While the ref was attempting to fix
it, Finlay brought a chair into the ring.  Cena kicked
it in his face and hit the FU for the win.  King Booker
charged the ring following the match, followed by
Batista.

A huge positive about this event was the fact they did
not go live to tape, meaning there were not long pauses
in between the matches to bore the fans.  It was fast
paced and held peoples interest better, much more so
than the horrible double taping they had in Worcester
back in September when fans were leaving in droves.
For better or worse, the ECW show build up characters
and feuds, and Smackdown did a solid job in getting the
key matches on the PPV over.
