WWE: Inside WWE > News > WWE to scout Afa's training school

This coming Tuesday, WWE will be in Allentown, Penn. on its next scouting mission. WWE’s Director of Talent Relations, John Laurinaitis, and several scouts will be heading to the wrestling school run by former World Tag Team Champion Afa the Wild Samoan to scout talent.

“We’re going to try to find tomorrow’s Superstars today,” said Mike Bucci, WWE Talent Development Manager. “The next John Cena, Rock or Steve Austin has to come from somewhere, so we have to go to places like wrestling schools and seek out talent.”

There will be between 20 and 30 athletes on hand to work out for the scouts. Afa himself is a former multiple-time World Tag Team Champion with brother Sika, and countless members of his family tree have been successful in WWE in the past.

“Afa has a real rich history with WWE, and the Samoans have always been integrated with us,” Bucci said. “He’s also trained Batista and Snitsky among others, so we’re hoping we can go there and find some future WWE Superstars. We’re going to take a look and see what they have.”

With all of the new talent springing up on RAW, SmackDown and ECW on Sci Fi lately, there’s plenty of opportunity for new blood to make their mark.

“We’ve got to restock the pool a little bit before we go fishing again, so to speak,” Bucci said. “There are a lot of people out there who are looking for a break, so you never know what can happen.”

WWE.com will also be on hand in Allentown Tuesday morning for the visit, which is expected to last about two hours.
