“10 Years in the Making”

On Friday Night, August 24^th, the bell will ring once again on the corner of 6^th and Laurel as Pro Wrestling returns to St. Joe’s Gym after 10 long years. St. Joe’s and Pro Wrestling were “tag team” partners throughout the 80’s and 90’s featuring some of the biggest names in the sport gracing the historic gym floor. Anyone who grew up a wrestling in Northeast Pa were spoiled to legendary bouts such as Jimmy Snuka vs. Roddy Piper or Hulk Hogan vs. Paul “Mr. Wonderful” Orndorff. Packed crowds saw memorable events from Bob Backlund defending the WWF Title to ECW bringing its unique form of entertainment to Hazleton.

On May 29^th, 1997 the final pin fall was counted at St. Joes. However this August, The World Wide Wrestling Alliance will reopen the doors and end the summer on a historic note. The WWWA has put together what is sure to be a memorable main event on what will already be a historic evening. In a match straight from TNA PPV, “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles will face off against ‘The Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe in the main event of the evening. This will mark the first time these two have ever appeared

in Northeast Pennsylvania. It is surely going to be a highly athletic contest that no one will want to miss.

Attending fans will also have the privilege of seeing a REAL, Living Legend of the Squared Circle as WWWA US Champion, Larry Zbyszko, defends his US title against the BEAST Glen Osbourne. Zbyszko defeated Osbourne to capture the title 3 years ago and has not lost yet. You will also see 6 other great matches, (8 in all) with 4 titles on the line. There will be a Ladies match with Brandi Wine taking on local female wrestling star, Little Devil. Also taking place will be a 3 way High Impact title match, as well as a No DQ match just to name a few.

The fans who attended our Bishop Hafey High School show that featured Scott Steiner know first hand that our cards are very professional from start to finish. There will be non-stop action from the opening bell to the last pin fall of the night. This is what makes the W-W-W-A a family friendly wrestling group second to none. This event is to

benefit the St. Joseph Holy Name Society. 100% of all proceeds raised that evening will go to the group. For anyone not familiar with the building, the historic St. Joseph Gym is located at 604 Laurel St. in Hazleton.

A.J. Styles, Samoa Joe, Larry Zbyszko, and the rest of the WWWA superstars will be available for autographs before the card from 6 – 7 PM and then again during intermission. Fans will also be able to get FREE autographs from certain wrestlers that evening as well. Bell time will be at 7:30 P.M.

Tickets prices are $12 for ringside and $10 for General Admission. So go to one of the locations listed below to get the best seat for a GREAT NIGHT of FAMILY ORIENTED Pro Wrestling and help out the Holy Name Society all at the same time!

Tickets will be on sale that night at the door if still available. However, with these stars on the card, they will no doubt go very fast.

The W-W-W-A has run events that have also helped raise money for M.S, Easter Seals, Dart & Dare programs, as well as The Arc of Salem County. We also do wrestling cards for people in need to raise money for medical reasons or personal tragedies. We are here to help them raise money for their worthwhile groups.
